Michael Paynter

Michael Paynter is a Melbourne-born singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist widely regarded as one of Australia's most respected and versatile musicians. Blending pop, rock, soul, and singer-songwriter influences, Michael has built an extraordinary career both as a solo artist and behind the scenes as a songwriter, producer, musical director, and touring musician. His powerful voice, exceptional musicianship, and creative versatility have made him a sought-after figure across the Australian and international music industries. Michael first rose to national prominence as a Sony Music recording artist, releasing a string of successful singles including the multi-platinum hit Love The Fall featuring The Veronicas, one of Australia's most-played songs of 2010.

Since then, he has recorded and toured extensively, supporting major international artists including Miley Cyrus, The Script, and Seal, while performing alongside Australian icons such as John Farnham, Hall & Oates, Jimmy Barnes, and Vanessa Amorosi. Beyond his solo work, Michael has served as Music Director for The Veronicas, become a full-time touring member of the legendary band Icehouse, and regularly performs with Jimmy Barnes. As one half of the acclaimed songwriting and production team MSquared, he has earned multiple ARIA and Golden Guitar Awards while writing and producing for artists across Australia, Nashville, and beyond.

In recent years, Michael has expanded into musical theatre, winning widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar.
