Ally Paterson

Ally Paterson is a country and folk singer-songwriter from South West Victoria, creating authentic Australian stories inspired by life on the land. Originally from Melbourne, Ally moved with her husband and young family to a sheep and cattle farm in 2021, where the rhythms, challenges, and beauty of rural life have become the heartbeat of her songwriting. Born into a musical family, Ally's love of performing began at an early age. She was heavily involved in school productions, serving as School Captain, Choir Captain, and Head of Performing Arts before briefly studying Arts Education at Monash University.

Choosing music over teaching, Ally built a successful career as a professional performer, entertaining audiences at weddings, Melbourne's Crown Casino, Federation Square, Melbourne Town Hall, and the Melbourne Seniors Festival. Today, Ally has traded city stages for country paddocks, writing songs that capture the resilience, humour, and heart of Australian farming communities. Her debut original single, Working Like Dogs, introduced her distinctive country-folk sound, while her acclaimed cover of John Williamson's Prairie Hotel Parachilna spent four consecutive weeks in the Australian Country Radio Top 10 and received airplay on ABC's Saturday Night Country and Edge of Country.

Drawing inspiration from John Williamson, Joy McKean, Florence + The Machine, Judith Durham, and Kate Bush, Ally combines timeless storytelling with rich, expressive vocals. She is currently recording her debut album with award-winning producer Matt Fell, including the single Dig, continuing her mission to tell enduring Australian stories through music that celebrates community, perseverance, and the land she now proudly calls home.
